๐ŸŒธ Easier Access to Your Oral Contraceptive (OC) Pill

Good news โ€” you no longer need to request a repeat prescription of your Oral Contraceptive Pill from your GP.

If youโ€™re already taking the pill and your prescription is due for renewal, you can now get your ongoing supply directly from your local community pharmacy through the NHS Pharmacy Contraception Service.

Who Can Use This Service?

You may be eligible if you:

  • Are seeking to start the contraceptive pill, or
  • Are already taking the pill and need a repeat supply

This applies to:

  • Combined Oral Contraceptive (COC): from menarche up to and including 49 years of age
  • Progestogen Only Pill (POP): from menarche up to and including 54 years of age

You can use the service if:

  • Youโ€™ve had no recent problems or changes with your contraception
  • Youโ€™re due or nearly due for your next supply

What to Expect at the Pharmacy

Your pharmacist will offer a quick, confidential consultation to:

  • Check your blood pressure (if needed)
  • Discuss any side effects or concerns
  • Safely issue your supply โ€” no GP appointment required

Your GP record will be updated automatically, so your care remains joined-up and consistent.
