    – A lot of recent discharge from the eye or watery eye
    – Recently occurring flashes or floaters

    – Ingrowing lashes
    – Recent and sudden loss of vision
    – Foreign body in the eye

    …you can arrange an appointment with an optometrist through the minor eye conditions service. You do not need a GP referral to use this service.

  • CUES (Community Urgent Eye Care Service)

    The CUES service is now managed by one provider for the whole of Bedfordshire, Luton and Milton Keynes.

    Who ss this service for?

    All adults and children registered with a GP in Bedfordshire, Luton and Milton Keynes can use the service. A GP referral is not required to access the service.

    Children under 16 years must be accompanied at their appointment by an adult.

    How do I refer/signpost a patient to the service?

    The CUES service is open 7 days a week between 8am and 8pm and can be accessed by phoning 0800 316 9200.

    Patients can self-refer, or be referred/signposted by a GP, pharmacist, optician, care navigator, NHS 111, Hospital eye service, A&E or MIU.

    What symptoms can be treated by the COVID urgent eyecare service?

    – Red or painful eye or eyelids
    – Recently occurring flashes and floaters
    – Recent and sudden loss of vision
    – Foreign body in the eye

    Please note that this service is not an eye test and does not cover long standing or major eye conditions that are being regularly monitored by an optometrist or hospital eye service, such as cataracts, diabetic retinopathy or glaucoma (including repeat pressure measurements). In such instances please consult the optometrist or hospital eye service directly.
